Jerzy Olek 1+0=10 (De)Construction of (Non)Sense

May 19 - Aug 1 2022       Pl. Strzegomski 2

An exhibition of Jerzy Olek, an artist inspired by science and geometry, reaching into other dimensions, where curved lines run straight and parallel ones intersect. Olek has long been active in the Polish art scene as a promoter/curator, as well as a lecturer in Poznań and Gdańsk, and finally making his base of operations in Stary Gierałtów, near Wrocław. The artist also travelled extensively in Europe, as well as a landmark trip to Japan, which inspired his obsession with natural meticulousness, precision, attention and even pedantry. Additionally, there's a preoccupation with the metaphysical, tapping in into visually-geometric ideas of repetitions, loops, continuations and rhythms, all of which give us the body of work that Olek has put together to date.
