If you’ve always pictured Maria Skłodowska-Curie as a bit of a scientific bad-ass then you’ll appreciate the mural of her on ul. Lipowa 3 near Warsaw University Library. Sure her signature graying bun is in place, but Skłodowska-Curie is balancing two large beakers with arms that are tattooed with her famous elements – radium and polonium – and she looks more like a member of Kiss than a Nobel Prize winner. Written next to the punk scientist is information about her famous discoveries and the declaration that Skłodowska Curie was born in Warsaw. The mural is ideally located near the Copernicus Science Centre – an attraction we’re sure Skłodowska Curie would approve of – and on the street that connects the library with the rest of Warsaw University.
