Winding for around 80km through forests, villages and quiet country roads, the Wooden Churches Trail around Puszcza Zielonka Landscape Park links twelve beautifully preserved wooden churches scattered across the Greater Poland countryside. Established in 2008, the route passes through places including Skoki, Kiszkowo, Uzarzewo and Wierzenica, connecting religious architecture with a surprisingly rich collection of art, local history and curious details. Along the way, visitors encounter everything from Rococo polychromes and miracle-working paintings to Romantic tomb sculpture and centuries-old coat-of-arms panels. Less a race from church to church and more a leisurely journey through the region’s cultural landscape, it rewards travellers who remember to stop often and look up.
