The series of concerts titled “Bridges Made of Brass” that has launched last year at the initiative of the Klaipėda Brass Quintet’s artistic director, Sigitas Petrulis, is being continued this year by a project developed in collaboration with the Quintet’s colleagues from Latvia – the Liepaja Horn Quartet.
According to Petrulis, “the Latvian school of horn players is highly regarded and esteemed as one of the best in Europe. Arvīds Klišāns, having had an illustrious career as an internationally acclaimed musician and a long teaching career at the Latvian Academy of Music, is one of its founders and most prominent teachers. His former pupils now perform with orchestras not only in Latvia but also elsewhere in Europe (for example, with the Klaipėda Music Theatre Symphony Orchestra). The Liepaja Horn Quartet is no exception: all four musicians had graduated from his class and currently work in the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra.”
