In this programme the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra will be guest conducted by Nicholas Milton, an Australian conductor working in Germany who has collaborated with the LCO before and lauded it as a true gem of Lithuanian musical culture. Milton is regularly invited to conduct leading orchestras in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Hungary, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Asia.
Another guest in this programme is distinguished Lithuanian tenor Edgaras Montvidas. He currently lives in London and appears at major opera houses, festivals and concert halls in Europe and the United States. He also regularly returns to Lithuania, where he is frequently engaged in productions of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and Vilnius City Opera, and has given recitals at Pažaislis and Vilnius festivals. The soloist is a recipient of the Golden Cross of the Stage and Medal of the Order for Merits to Lithuania, among many other awards and distinctions.
The programme will proceed further with Haydn’s Symphony No. 22 in E-flat major “Der Philosoph” (The Philosopher), Gerald Finzi’s Romance for Strings, and Mahler’s Tenth Symphony, which is often dubbed ‘the great unfinished.’
