Evening is a period of time at the end of day, after the afternoon and before night, when the wind stops blowing, the air is cooling down, and the sun is setting, leaving a golden glow behind in the sky. It is a time of day, which Lithuanian poet Justinas Marcinkevičius berhymed in his famous lines: “It’s one of those evenings when you can’t find peace, / and that hardly effable feeling of plenitude, / and that lightness as blue as a trace of fume, / and it’s heard far, very far away.”
For his recital young pianist Jonas Šopa, who was selected among the participants of the Klaipėda Piano Masters summer academy last year, has handpicked works by seven composers which might help him create enthralling atmosphere of a spring evening and express rapidly changing emotions and moods. The alumnus of the Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatory and current student of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Šopa will perform works by Vytautas Bacevičius, Frédéric ChopinMuzio Clementi, Claude Debussy, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninov and Robert Schumann.
