'Second fiddle' is the position for those who should play the first, but consciously and maturely choose the second - to maintain balance and avoid disproportions. In fact, the ego of the second violinist is about a semitone higher than the individual holding first, and it's difficult to isolate their parts from the whole, as they're most often the harmonic-rhythmic filling of the work or the melodic support of the first violin! Additionally, musicians in this ensemble must therefore show great musicality and sensitivity to interpretation.

This concert featuring the second violinists of Łódź's Grand Theatre orchestra is a great opportunity to find out about the uniqueness of those artists who, called second violinists, are in fact an equal part of the orchestra's ensemble. In Duel for second violin, the artists will present themselves to you in a light and humorous way, which does not mean that in an easier repertoire. It promises to be great fun at its best!
