Festival of Four Cultures

Friday Oct 4 - Sunday Oct 13

There are four cultures responsible for the late 19th-century rise of the mighty industrial Łódź: Poles, Jews, Germans, and Russians had to coexist and cooperate in order for the city to flourish. Traces of the multicultural heritage can still be found all around, both in the city and its inhabitants, and have increasingly become the focus of discourse and examination. The aim of the Four Cultures Festival is to impart a greater understanding of the city's roots through film, literature, theatre and music. The theme of this year's Festival is "The Future, Now!" Artists from Israel, Germany, Belarus and Ukraine will perform for the audience, as well as phenomenal Polish acts, in various interior and exterior locations across the city -  Art Factory, Musical Theatre, Wytwórnia Club, The Grand Theatre, The Marek Edelman Dialogue Center and Monopolis stage

"The future has irretrievably changed the world, entering our lives with extreme ease and violence. The resulting shock changed our perception of the world we live in, and illuminated our everyday problems in different ways. We will present these ideas through meetings, concerts, performances and many other events that we have planned for you in September."
