Living and Studying in Łódź

03 Oct 2019
It may be the case you have arrived in Łódź and have explored the touristy side of the city, hopefully using our guide with its 'Essential Łódź' in one package, or by going on a guided walking tour of the city, but now you just wish to integrate. You will have various motivations, from feeling homesick and wishing to mingle with expats from your home country, or with other internationals, potentially to learn a new language (Polish, huh?), or you are an Erasmus student simply wishing to increase your social circle. Your reasons may be varied - but there's always something here for everyone. We have listed various organisations that specialise in integrative events which regularly take place around Łódź that not only offer you the chance to mingle with expats and fellow students, but with local Polish people too.

If general leisure events are more your thing (social events, sports) then we recommend checking out Meetings for New Expats in Łódź, Poland. You can also check out Łódź Yeddel, brought to you by the same people that provide the popular events organised by Warsaw Social. Follow both their Facebook pages to receive updates on all upcoming events and general posts from the expat community.

If learning languages is more your thing, then Language Exchange in Łódź is right up your street. Here you can discover other people wishing to learn new languages. A free weekly meeting takes place in the city centre, and includes a mix of languages including English, Polish, and many other speakers of foreign tongues! The meetings are free, although out of courtesy, you are encouraged to at least buy one tea/coffee/drink in the premises. Visit the Facebook page to find out about any upcoming events and see general posts from members.

There are, of course, more general expat pages available on Facebook, such as Foreigners in Lodz, Foreigners in Łódź (note the spelling) and Lodz for Foreigners for general issues and topics, but it's not uncommon to see events advertised here too. If you're an Erasmus student in the city, then the official Erasmus Facebook pages for the University of Łódź and the University of Technology will be more than helpful.

Whether you're only staying in Łódź for the short-term, or you're in it for the long haul - we've got you covered!
