Riga International Airport

Riga International Airport, known throughout the world as RIX, lies some 10km southwest of the city. A cab ride to the airport will cost you anywhere between €12 - 15, but you can also get there in roughly 30 minutes (depending on traffic) with bus N°22, which operates between 05:45 and 23:10. The most convenient stop in Old Riga is at Grēcinieku iela. You can buy a ticket from the machine at the stop for €1.15 or purchase a ticket from the driver for €2. The airport has undergone major improvements over the years and seems to always be expanding to accommodate more and more passengers. A TGIFriday’s is available at the far right of the airport and a LIDO Latvian restaurant is open on the top floor of the main terminal for those who want a last sip of a local beer or who just can’t stand airplane food. A sushi restaurant, sports bar and lots of local cafés are available on the other side of the security checkpoint as well as a variety of duty free and paid shops, including Victoria's Secret and Furla.
