By far, the most modern and complete introduction to Tallinn, City Museum was established in 1937. Appropriately built into a 14th-century merchant house, the Tallinn City Museum houses elaborate displays, with English captions, demonstrating various aspects of Tallinn life through the ages. They also house a depository of porcelain and faience (fine tin-glazed pottery on a delicate pale buff earthenware structure).

We spent a delightful few hours at the Tallinn City Museum. The highlight of our time there was meeting Mr. Juksaar, who gave us a wonderfully informative explanation of the Occupations and history of Estonia and Tallinn in particular. He very much increased our interest in knowing more. We are forever grateful to him for his volunteer days of making history alive for folks who are fortunate enough to meet him.
