The People’s Museum of Tallinn, a branch of the Tallinn City Museum, is something of a cultural matchmaker, bringing together the city’s wonderfully varied voices while carefully minding their stories. Housed at Pikk 29a, a medieval merchant’s home with a flair for reinvention, the museum has long celebrated the many peoples of Tallinn and their contributions to its cultural fabric. Once part of a bustling medieval trade street, the building still shows off its historic good bones — from the dignified façade to vaulted ceilings and faded wall paintings upstairs. Rebuilt more than once yet stubbornly medieval at heart, the house now tells its own tale, weaving architectural change with the lives, cultures, and characters who passed through its doors.
