Sadly, as of 2023, this cafe has reported being temporarily closed. However, if it reopens and if you happily consider frosting as one of the four major food groups, then La Vanille is your kind of place. The menu begins and ends with cupcakes – just cupcakes – in flavours like white chocolate and strawberry, tiramisu and red velvet. And though cupcakes are a comfort food, the Vanille space is much more stark than cosy. All the better to focus on the frosting, flickering candlelight and a frothy latte we say. We suspect La Vanille is the reason so many ties on the surrounding streets are streaked with icing.
