Flora Danica is the result of work between the the Łazienki Krakowskie Museum and the Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark. Visitors will be able to view one of the most famous and exclusive royal dining sets this August at Pałac na Wyspie. From August 5 to October 30 in the main dining room of Pałac na Wyspie, the dinnerware will be presented just as it was for Danish royalty on the cusp of the 19th century. The dinner set was produced by the Royal Porcelain Factory (Den Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik) in the years 1790-1802. The porcelain was most likely produced for the Russian czarina Catherine the Great, but because of her death the porcelain remained in Denmark. The name “Flora Danica” derives from themes inspired by the decor painted on specific parts of the plates, vases, silverware, etc. based on plants found in a botanical atlas from 1761.
