The innovative version of Mozart's Magic Flute, produced by Berlin's Komische Oper, is a stunning, hallucinogenic spectacle, a surreal visual extravaganza, in which actors exist suspended in crazy animation. The production, according to the director Barrie Kosky, is a tribute to silent cinema. An amazing spectacle, full of references to the Yellow Submarine, Monty Python's Flying Circus, and superheroes.
