Plac Pięciu Rogów

Warsaw's newest public square opened in July 2022 at the intersection of Bracka, Krucza, Zgody, Szpitalna and Chmielna Streets - hence the name, 'Five Corner Square' (though an argument could be made that there are actually more corners than that). Although the new design still features a lot of concrete, 22 tall maple trees have been added to the space, as well of numerous benches with almost 40 sitting places. Most significantly, the entire area has been opened up and given over to pedestrians, which is a huge improvement over the urban tangle that previously prevailed here. Part of extensive redevelopment works in the neighbourhood (part of the city's 'Nowe Centrum Warszawy' plan) that have reduced car traffic and parking spaces, widened sidewalks, added greenery and generally sought to pedestrianise a passage from ul. Nowy Świat (on the Royal Route) to the Palace of Culture, Plac Pięciu Rogów is now the social centrepiece of said passage down ul. Chmielna, which is being transformed into a major pedestrian thoroughfare and high street lined with trees. A great area for exploration, on and around the square you'll plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars and intriguing places for relaxing and refuelling.
