The brainchild of some crazy Varsovians, Runmageddon is Europe's most extreme obstacle course/cross country running event, incorporating an array of challenges involving freezing water, mud and even fire over the course of race routes of various lengths. Taking place in many cities (or in the woods near them) across Poland, over the course of each competitive 'season,' Runmageddon has built a strong (literally) community of fitness diehards on varying levels of the "hardcore" spectrum, but also attracts groups of fit friends looking for a fun, messy challenge together, with beer at the finish line. The competition can be participated in solo, or as a team, and some of the obstacles - which range from slippery slopes to hauling tyres to slithering under barbed wire fields - are so challenging that you'll literally need to help other competitors (and they help you) if you want to proceed. As such, in addition to the adrenaline rush, there's a real camaraderie to the events that can quickly lead to addiction.

This Winter 2022 event in Warsaw features 3 courses: a 3km course with 15 obstacles, a 6km course with 30 obstacles, and an insane 21km course with 70 obstacles, the latter of which lives up to their slogan: 'Prepare for Hell.'
