Dance may be fleeting, but stunning photographs are one effective way towards its immortalisation. Butoh is a type of unique contemporary dance that originated in Japan in the late 1950s. Its founder, Tatsumi Hijikata, felt compelled to create an entirely new form of dance that wouldn't be confined by then-traditional rules and principles of the art form. The exhibit comprises a series of photographs of butoh dancer and choreographer TO-EN (Japanese for "earth-garden").
