"It's not enough to have talent, you also have to be Hungarian." While we're not sure if Hungarian photographer Capa's quote has been verified across all skill sets, it certainly rings true when reflecting on the history of 20th-century photography. With globally-recognised names like Brassaï, Capa, Kertész, Moholy-Nagy and Munkácsi, it's indisputable that some of the world's greatest, most important photographers came out of Hungary. Not only were these epic names behind the lens—they were also responsible for deciding where the lens itself was pointed. The exhibit, featuring these prominent names along with over 100 artists altogether, sets out to demonstrate just how much these photographers and their works shaped the way in which the world perceived itself. The exhibit is part of a large-scale Hungarian culture season being held this year in Poland.
