This ageing establishment, equipped with Czech street signs and images of simpleton Szwejk, is a bit of a Warsaw classic, and while it looks brash and basic the food is fine and the portions are scary. The steak is inconsistent, so best stick to ordering standards like sausages and schnitzel. Patience is a good tactic to use with the staff, but there’s certainly no criticism of the Pilsner on draught - cut the dismal waiting times by ordering in steins. Lunches available Mon-Fri 12:30-15:30. They also have nightly live music from 19:30 throughout the week, and 14:00-18:00 on Sundays (along with a nanny service on this day only).

It's often busy but that;s more to do with the beer and atmosphere than the food. While my foreign companions were pleased with the huge beers and portions of food I got a golonka with some bits of plastic still wrapped around it while the replacement (which came with a sincere apology and a smile) was more fat that meat. There are better places for the heaps of meat experience than here.

If you are looking for atmosphere, this is the place. Part of eating out is to enjoy oneself. The party atmosphere, live music in an informal setting is just what the doctor ordered. The food is decent, what else can you ask for.
