Eyethu Heritage Hall

  113 Machaba Dr, Mofolo Central, Soweto ,   Soweto          078 605 0810     17 Sep 2025
Step into Soweto’s creative soul at Eyethu Heritage Hall, a dynamic museum-meets-cultural space housed in the historic Eyethu Cinema – once the beating heart of Mofolo Central. Founded in 1969 by entrepreneurial icons Ephraim and Caroline Tshabalala, this reimagined venue celebrates a rich legacy of black excellence, art, music, and community.

Today, the Eyethu Heritage Hall serves as a venue for exhibitions, community gatherings, award ceremonies, and more. Colourful pop art displays, vintage archives, and storytelling tours bring to life a golden era when local stars like Brenda Fassie and Yvonne Chaka Chaka lit up the stage, and Hollywood blockbusters shared screen time with homegrown classics like Joe Bullet. Run by the Tshabalala family, the Hall is part of the growing Soweto Art Mile – a cultural trail connecting art, history, and heritage.
