This autumn Restaurant Week 2022 takes place between October 14th - 23rd. Restaurants around the country will be offering three course menus for just €21, with other higher rating restaurants priced at €23 and €27. Over one hundred of Slovenia’s finest restaurants are participating in this autumn’s Restaurant Week, many of whom join every time, and this year eleven more restaurants are participating for the first time. Among the 107 establishments 29 are from the Michelin Slovenia Guide. 

During last year’s Restaurant Week over 100,000 people took advantage of the superb offers available. Restaurant Week has established itself as a great way to discover new places and introduced guests to many previously hidden gems around the country. It has proved to diners that top quality food can be found on the menus of lesser known restaurants without the stars. 

Restaurant Week takes place twice a year, in spring and autumn, and gives diners a 10 day period to sample the delights created by some of the country’s most talented chefs. Diners new and old can enjoy a 3-course-meal for a very pocket-friendly price.

What is Restaurant Week?
Restaurant Week is an event intended for all food lovers where some of Slovenia’s top restaurants offer visitors specially created menus at significantly lower prices for a 10 day period. Participating restaurants are carefully selected and must meet a strict criteria for quality. Does Restaurant Week only happen in Slovenia?
Restaurant Week originated in New York in 1992, and has now become a worldwide event. Details may vary from country-to-country and city-to-city, but the essence of the event is the same - special menus at pocket-friendly prices. Slovenia first took part in Restaurant Week in 2012 as part of the term as European capital of Culture.

Is Slovenia Restaurant Week intended for foreign guests?
Restaurant Week is for people who like to eat well. Everyone is welcome!

When is Restaurant Week in Slovenia?
Restaurant Week is a twice yearly event held in spring and autumn, and lasts for ten days. Dates are announced on the official website two weeks in advance when reservations can be made.

How are participating restaurants selected?
Restaurants are invited to participate by the food critic and selector of restaurants, Uroš Mencinger, who reviews each of them.

What is the criteria for selecting restaurants?
Only restaurants that have earned at least one heart based on the criteria defined by the School of Flavours (www.vivi.si) will be invited to participate. Hearts are used as a measure of the quality for Slovenian restaurants. At the discretion of the selector, other restaurants may also be invited.

How do I make a reservation during Restaurant Week?
To see all participating restaurants and to make reservations see the official Restaurant Week website. Some restaurants accept reservations by email, by clicking ‘RESERVE’ you can request a table. The restaurant will confirm the booking. Tables do get booked up quickly but the website also shows information for places available for participating restaurants.

How many people can I book for?
Participating restaurants set their own conditions for reservations. Restaurant Week isn’t intended for large parties or group bookings, many restaurants will only accept bookings for up to six people.

How many seats are available during Slovenia Restaurant Week?
Some restaurants set a limited number of seats whilst others offer all their tables. Information for each restaurant is available on the official website.

How much does it cost?
The price of the menu during Restaurant Week is €21, this price does not include wine or additional sides or courses, but they can of course be added. Restaurants that hold a status of three hearts or more have a higher price of €27, and those with two hearts are priced at €23.

What is included in the set price?
All menus must have at least three courses. Menus will be announced in advance and available to view online with additional information about each restaurant.

Do restaurants only have one menu?
Many of the participating restaurants offer more than one menu option. They can choose how many menus they want to submit during Restaurant Week.

Do restaurants offer menus for diners with special dietary requirements?
Menus can be checked online ahead of time on the official website. Some participating restaurants offer vegetarian options and guests can enquire before making a reservation. For more specific dietary requests guests are advised to contact the restaurant in advance. Many restaurants will try their best to accommodate guests as best they can.

Who organises Slovenia Restaurant Week?
Restaurant Week is organised by VIVI d.o.o. Violeta Mencinger is in charge.
