Literature of the world - Fabula is the most famous literary festival in Slovenia and one of the most important in the wider region. It has been running since 2003, during which time it has hosted many of the most prominent contemporary authors: Herta Müller, Irvin Welsh, Jonathan Franzen, Hanif Kureishi, David Grossman, Janice Galloway, Richard Flanagan, Taiya Selasi, Tatiana Tolstoy, Eric Vuillard, Rachel Cusk , Deborah Levy, Džho Alharti, Bernhard Schlink and many others. The concept of the festival has been developed and perfected over the years. Today, it is based on well-thought-out curatorial work and every year it strives to select five authors who are already considered literary classics or who in recent years have marked world literature with their work, and as part of the Fabula Hub programme, the festival also pays attention to promising, still established by name.

In 2023, the focus of the festival will be on the question of the past, what we could (and what we didn't) learn from the example of the past - how the shadows of the past affect our modernity and what lessons they convey to us on the way to the future. The festival's slogan of (re)construction of memory will bring together internationally renowned authors who are currently considered the best both in their countries and on a global scale.
