The 35th Ljubljana Graphic Biennale

Sep 15 - Jan 14 2024       Pod Turnom 3
The 35th Ljubljana Graphic Biennale, which will take place from September 15, 2023 to January 14, 2024, unveils the concept and publishes the list of participants and venues.

The artistic director of the biennale Ibrahim Mahama and the curatorial team (Exit Frame collective, Alicia Knock, Selom Koffi Kudjie, Inga Lace, Beya Othmani and Patrick Nii Okanta) have invited artists and collectives from Africa, Europe and beyond who work in the fields of graphics, film, installation and performance, and which, in addition to their existing ones, will also present new works created especially for the biennale. Graphic works from the archive of the biennale will also be exhibited, which will serve as a diary that reveals traces of important meetings and workshops in the field of graphics, film and other media.

Out of the Void Came the Gifts of the Cosmos sees in contemporary art and graphics an opportunity to strengthen transnational alliances and explores the ecosystem of connections, solidarity and histories of resistance between post-independence Ghana and the former Yugoslavia. The Biennale draws from the pool of connections between contemporary art and graphics in the fields of architecture, design, agriculture, botany and medicine, and ponders the spread of visual culture as an opportunity to create spaces of potential, portals between spaces that transcend borders.
