R.H. Quaytman is a contemporary American artist, whose works are deeply rooted in the history of art, and in art theory. They make reference to philosophical reflection on the nature of painting, representation, construction of visual signs, and the phenomenon of seeing. The artist comes back to the home city of her forebears with an oeuvre that has been structured into “chapters". Each of them is a separate exhibition, each is site-specific, meaning it refers to the architectural, but also the historical context of a place. In her art, she explores such issues as memory and the nature of history. The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication designed by the artist herself.
