This awesome project holds the distinction of being the first large-scale Roma restaurant in all of Europe, and while the noteworthy social aspects behind the initiative would be reason enough to visit, you can rest assured that food is delicious and the restaurant itself is one of the most atmospheric in town. Set in the premises of restored 19th-century building originally occupied by the Austrian-Hungarian railway company, the interior preserves the beautiful brickwork and exposed wood beams, with unique furnishings and brightly painted walls and ceilings giving the space an exceptionally homey feel. The traditional Roma cuisine is not unlike typical Balkan dishes, with plenty of grilled meats, hearty stews and baked pitas (burek) all off ered, and at the weekends much of the food is prepared on an open grill outside.
