This exhibit explores the work of influential German-French artist Jean (to the French) or Hans (to the Germans) Arp. A sculptor, painter, poet, and abstract artist in other media such as torn and pasted paper, Arp’s name is synonymous with Dadaism, Surrealism and Abstract Art. His work from a variety of media will be shown alongside work by his Polish contemporaries Władysław Strzemiński, Katarzyna Kobro and Maria Jarema, who shared his inspirations and theories about art. In the 1930’s Arp had connections to many Polish artists who moved in the same Parisian social circles as he did.
