Poland has seen an upsurge in small independent breweries in recent years, resulting in dramatic improvement to the variety, availability and general palatability of Polish beer (piwo in local parlance). In addition to small microbreweries, Poznań also boasts one of the largest breweries in PL - the Lech Brewery, which until recently was available for tours. The historic Hugger Brewery is a major cultural and commercial landmark in Poznań, having been adapted into the impressive Stary Browar complex in 2003; today it is one of the city's must-see attractions.
