It’s no secret that Riga has one of the world’s most stunning collections of art nouveau architecture in the world, but if you won’t take our word for it, then contact UNESCO and they’ll tell you the same thing. In honour of Latvia’s centenary, the Riga Bourse Art Museum is currently hostin an all-encompassing exhibition covering the evolution of this incredible design movement throughout Europe via graphic art, painting, sculpture and decorative art. In addition to fine examples of Latvian art, the following institutions have also loaned pieces from their own collections: The Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Musée d'Orsay (Paris), the Royal Museums of Art and History (Brussels), the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (Norwich), Badisches Landesmuseum (Karlsruhe) and the M. K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum (Kaunas). Images: Peacocks (1906) and Sketch (1906) by Jūlijs Straume.
