The ancient Silk Road was not only a system of roads and paths for goods and commodities, but also a means of transport for new technologies, ideas and spiritual beliefs. Silk Road. Ancient Chinese Art, which was created with the support of Art Exhibitions China, offers roughly 100 different artefacts spanning a period beginning with the Western Zhou dynasty (1046 - 771 BC) up until the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644). Visitors will be able to see precious examples of art in various materials including clay, gold, bronze, jade, lacquer and textiles including, of course, silk. An exhibition of Chinese antiquities of this scale and scope has never before been organised in Latvia and it was created to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Latvia.
