Aleksandra Szewczuk's Borders is a presentation of an artist who, by her own declaration, "enters the picture with all her being, putting everything else aside, and focusing on colour and composition" with only the edge of the canvas as a boundary. PGS Sopot has spotlighted Szewczuk as a worthy torchbearer of abstract expressionism, an artist who clearly demonstrates a profound respect for the creative process and a more-than-cable proponent of colour-field painting techniques. The aesthetics she pursues are accentuated by the raw, unprimed canvas she prefers to commit her works on. This exploration of colours and textures goes beyond any artistic goals that Szewczuk is guided by. There is also a therapeutic goal that is, perhaps, and even higher compulsion for the artists, and thus results in the most honest form of expression that can be achieved in such a medium.
