Alicja Anna Domańska’s greatest inspiration is black; it is her world, destination and path. It is the source of strength and symbolism in her work. She is never bored with black and applies it differently each time. In these 30-some new paintings, black, gray, beige and white dominate the color schemes, while red pops up from time to time, attempting to dominate all elements of the canvas. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Domańska lives and works in Sopot and Warsaw, and has also exhibited in Kraków, Paris, Stockholm and London, among others. She is a laureate of the Sopot Music Award in the Culture and Art division (2012), and she regularly works with theaters, fashion designers and architects.
