A discourse of two veteran artists about the impermanence and transience of the Tatra Mountains, as well as a clash of two schools of photography, in which the contemporary digital technique meets the older. Wojnarowski and Pollesch, both artistically and personally associated, take on these juxtaposing practices to record and offer a unique interpretation of the southern Polish mountain region, and the results couldn't me more contrasting. While Wojnarowski presents a series of prints that are perfectly framed, dynamically lit and something of a 'modern achievement', Pollesch takes on the 19th-century photographic printing process of 'Gum bichromate' which produces work on a much smaller scale and with a much different treatment of light and exposure. Yet, somehow, both perspectives of the famed Tatras are equally as impactful and emotional, with even the so-called 'outdated' techniques still able to bring out the natural environment in a way that is no longer possible. Make sure you don't miss this incredibly unique exhibition at PGS Sopot.
