‘We: The Common Body’ is the title of married couple Katarzyna Swinarska and Elvin Flamingo’s exhibit, yet despite their partnership, their artistic creations are completely individual, independent projects presented in the collective Flamingo + Infer. They will show their artistic, philosophical and ontological spheres, which despite being independent from each other, are created through emotional and intellectual closeness. Katarzyna Swinarska will show the film “We: The Common Body” which recounts love and rivalry in thousands of artist couples’ relationships, and also two cycles of paintings called “Heart” and “Skin.” The “Heart” cycle explores trying to find unity in love with another person, while “Skin” is an erotic compilation on the surface of her paintings, alluding to human skin. Elvin Flamingo’s primary creation here is a live installation of thousands of earthworms producing biohumus while they move around a net of sensors that sends signals to the other two objects of the installation; thus the viewer simultaneously experiences one of the most primitive organisms on Earth along with modern technology. Despite common inspiration, the artists’ works are separate grounds for interesting dialogue.
