Sopot always used to be a popular spot for smoky live music venues, where you hear jazz and see the type of bohemian crowd for which the town was famous. In the last few years dare we say the entertainment side of the town has gone a bit tacky, with the focus now on music clubs catering for the younger end of the nightlife spectrum. Restauracja Walter, found on the 4th floor of the department store on the edge of the square are looking to recreate a little of old Sopot with the opening of this live jazz venue. The décor is extremely smart and it offers some great views over the square and sea. Jazz concerts take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings in winter. Walter's menu offers a concise range of Polish cuisine as well as a well-stocked bar and this is very definitely a recommended spot if you like a more relaxed setting and some good wine and jazz. Find it by taking the lift in the department store or enter via sister-venue Bistro Walter on the ground floor.
