“I look for metaphors in paintings, just as I look for them in poems. Composing a picture is similar to writing poetry - it consists of collecting elements and giving them such expression that, together, they create a mystery, a riddle. I am inspired by mystical painting. I hope for this exhibition to evoke a spiritual experience in the audience. I try to organize the gallery space in such a way that it encourages the audience's focus and subsequent meditation on each work. "
Apart from gouaches and oil paintings, the poems by Zuzanna Bartoszek will also accompany these works in the form of audio recordings. The exhibition will be accompanied by the premiere of a catalog with paintings and poetry. The following poem is an extract from her book:
Podałam sobie dłoń za plecami Kolejny sukces, gratulacje Podłożyłam sobie nogę, złośliwie Z żalu wrzuciłam złotówkę do kałuży pod domem Na urodziny zdmuchnęłam czyjś znicz I pomyślałam życzenie: Jeszcze raz Jeszcze raz Jeszcze raz |
I shook my hand behind my back Another success, congratulations I raised my foot, maliciously In regret, I threw a coin into a puddle in front of the house For my birthday, I blew out the candle of another's memory And I made a wish: Again And again And again |
