Agnieszka Osiecka Monument

ul. Francuska (corner of ul. Obrońców) ,   Saska Kępa         more than a year ago

Agnieszka Osiecka (1936 - 1997) was a Polish poet and journalist, and the author of over 2,000 songs, many of which were turned into pop hits. She’s also known for a particularly grisly connection to the Swinging Sixties; her first marriage ended in tragedy when her husband, Wojciech Frykowski, became one of those slain by Charles Manson’s family of weirdos in what would turn out to be one of the crimes of the century. The statue is located in Praga Południe aka Saska Kępa, a more modern section of Praga (note the surrounding embassies) than Stara Praga. To round out your visit check out Osiecka’s favourite café, Maska, which stands around the corner from her monument.
