Sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami? Contrary to what the title might make you think, this is not a culinary affair, but a film festival with the aim of promoting the wildest and most intriguing productions of Asian pop culture. Five Flavours is the only annual film festival in Poland to present cinema from East, South-East and South Asia. Since 2007, the Festival has brought to Poland premiere screenings of the latest and most appealing productions from the Far East as well as classic Asian films and retrospectives of renowned filmmakers.

This year's edition will be a hybrid festival, with screenings taking place both in situ in Kino Muranów and Kinoteka from November 16-23, and online until December 4. Thematic categories from this year's programme include a retrospective of Edward Yang, the master of Taiwanese New Wave cinema; 'Hong Kong - Films from the time of Transformation,' focused on films made in Hong Kong in the past 25 years; 'Japan Feel Good,' light, uplifting films from Japan; 'New Asian Cinema' (self-explanatory) and 'Asian Cinerama,' featuring favourite Asian films by established directors.
