Experience an unforgettable evening of music, laughter, and pure entertainment as the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) presents Candelabra Classics – A Pianistic Salute to Liberace. The show features South Africa's own Mr Showmanship, renowned theatre actor and singer, Jonathan Roxmouth, and is conducted by Eddie Clayton.

The debonair Roxmouth channels the spirit of Władziu Valentino Liberace, bringing to life a mix of beloved classics, songs, and spectacles that made the performer a household name. Liberace was a larger-than-life performer, dazzling in his flamboyance. An American pianist, singer, and actor of Italian and Polish origin, his career spanned around four decades. He passed away in 1987.

A decade ago, Roxmouth performed as Liberace in his biopic musical Call Me Lee; he always yearned to revisit the music with a full orchestra – now, for two shows only, he does just that.

Picking up where Liberace left off, the programme showcases masterpieces from composers like Richard Addinsell, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Claude Debussy, George Gershwin, Edvard Grieg, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Richard Strauss, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

This is a family show with glitz and glamour, along with pure musicianship and unbridled fun. With only two performances on Fri, May 17 and Sun, May 19, we suggest you book now.
