We love online shopping. Who doesn't love browsing with purpose (or just window shopping) from the comfort of your couch?  Plus getting the delivery is not unlike getting a gift—from yourself to yourself. From statement African-print dresses to a one-of-a-kind engagement rings, there's not much you can't find online. Here's our roundup of Joburg's newest online stores:

ARTIST PROOF STUDIO
Started by apartheid artists Kim Berman and Nhlanhla Xaba after they returned from exile in 1991, Artist Proof Studio's online shop offers fans of their Newtown-based community printmaking studio, to browse and shop its wide-ranging collection online. Unique pieces by acclaimed local artist William Kentridge are available, alongside work by emerging artists and visual arts students that should appeal to all tastes and budgets. The online collection spans a variety of media include etching, lithography, screenprint, monotype, linocut and drypoint. 

BRYANSTON ORGANIC MARKET ONLINE SHOP
Joburg’s longest running weekly market, the Bryanston Organic Market has been in existence for over 40 years. The market’s new online store keeps its eco-conscious ethos, bringing together the work of Bryanston Organic Market’s master crafters and traders that Joburgers have come to love. Shop online for your favourite organic and ethically sourced goodies from body care products and deli goods to quirky homewares and kid's fashion and accessories labels plus Ethiopian cotton scarves. 

LOINCLOTH AND ASHES
Statement dresses in vibrant African fabrics and bold cuts are the signature of Tanzanian-born Anisa Mpungwe, whose designs have travelled far and wide and even been worn by American songstress Solange Knowles for an Elle cover photograph. Formerly based in Maboneng precinct in the city, Mpungwe moved her Loincloth and Ashes studio to Pretoria but you can buy her distinctive clothing via her online store.

I LOVE LOCAL 
From the streets of Joburg to the streets of the world’ is the tagline of this innovative studio and outlet for former street kids who receive photography training from the I Was Shot Foundation. Their innovative range of products that include mounted canvases of their unique urban photographs, T-shirts, notebooks, cushions, photo frames and corporate gifts is now available under their I Love Local online brand. To visit them head to the IwasshotinJoburg :) studio. and store at Maboneng's Arts on Main or at their kiosk in Rosebank Mall. 

GERALDINE FENN 
Geraldine Fenn and Eric Loubser's exquisitely curated gallery Tinsel exhibits unique locally-made contemporary jewellery pieces by South Africa's top designers. Fenn also creates custom-designed pieces and one-of-a-kind engagement rings, showcased beautifully on her new online shop and made at Tinsel’s on-site studio. 

LOVE JOZI
This innovative South African T-shirt and design company mixes urban fashion with social consciousness, finding design inspiration in optimism about the rise of Joburg as a world city. Well-cut designer T-shirts get a graphic treatment  and you will love their laser-cut coat-racks and key racks made in the shape of Joburg’s iconic skyline. If you want to visit the store, you'll find branches at 44 Stanley in Milpark, Market on Main in Maboneng and you can also find selected products at Nonna in Parkhurst.

MISSIBABA
Started by Cape-Town based Chloe Townsend in 2005, Missibaba produces covetable hand-stitched leather bags. Its flagship store in Rosebank’s Keyes Art Mile moved to Melrose Arch before resettling online. Shop for handbags embellished with hand-stitched leather motifs in glamorous metallic and vibrant hues of leather. From clutches to totes, and must have fabric purses, each item is a statement piece.
