Lanseria Airport, approximately 30km to the north-west of Sandton, serves mainly short-haul destinations and is the airport of choice for many charter flights to private game reserves, as well as local budget carriers such as Mango and Kulula. Although tiny compared to O.R. Tambo, the airport was upgraded in 2010 and has decent facilities. And, if you’re a little more adventurous, you can join the flying school based there, or charter a private jet.
