Kliptown Museum

This often over-looked museum next to the Soweto Hotel in historic Kliptown brings the incredible story of the Freedom Charter and the 1955 Congress of the People to life with creative and informative displays. Wire sculptures of leading activists and ordinary people are annotated with personal testimonies portraying the great excitement of the meeting and life in 1950s South Africa is brought vividly into perspective with photographs and news clippings illustrating the increasing levels of oppression that South Africans faced on a daily basis.
