This incredible exhibition shows an evolution in the work of Walter Oltmann, taking his familiar figures and creating additional layers of depth and interest. His mediaeval knights are encased in armour that has come undone. Above them insect-like figures woven from wire in Oltmann's distinctive style hover and resemble small jewelled creatures.

Taking place in The Villa-Legodi Centre for Sculpture at NIROX, In Time explores themes of disguise, camouflage, metamorphosis, transformation, extinction and rebirth.

Awarded the Edoardo Villa Extraordinary Award for Sculpture in 2022, Oltmann has used this accomplishment to facilitate conversations with other artists – Usha Seejarim, Chris Soal, and Inga Somdyala. They all work in a similar way, to varying ends, exploring the contemplative nature of sculptural work. These conversations led to the first exhibition A Quiet Focus which explored the artist's understanding of sculptural art.
