Jervis Pennington's hit one-man musical memoir, An Extraordinarily Ordinary Life comes to the Market Theatre after a triumphant run in Cape Town where critics have described the show as "a poignant, harrowing but ultimately beautiful and darkly hilarious piece of theatre".

In 1983 a young, clean-cut Pennington won SABC's talent show 'Follow That Star' and overnight became a teen pop idol and household name. As with many who enjoy extraordinary fame at a young stage, Pennington eventually found himself slipping off the edges of the straight and narrow and succumbed to drug addiction. From the dizzy heights of nationwide stardom, Pennington eventually found himself sleeping rough on the streets.

In this one-man show, the charismatic and multi-talented Pennington talks and sings his dramatic story of fame and lost fortune, regret and recovery.
