Ahead of the arrival of the blockbuster new Blade Runner film, Blade Runner 2049 this October, Maboneng's independent cinema The Bioscope revisits the original 1980s sci-fi classic.

Hailed as one of the greatest science fiction films of all time, Ridley Scott's 1982 film Blade Runner is set in a dystopian Los Angeles in the year 2019. A law enforcement wing called the Blade Runners has been formed to control rogue bioengineered robots called replicants and 'retire' them. When a group of escaped replicants tries to come to planet Earth to find their maker, it is up to Blade Runner Rick Deckard (played by a young Harrison Ford) to send them into retirement.

As part of The Bioscope's Classic Movie Club nights there's lots of original fan merchandise to buy, including limited edition A3 poster art (these must be bought online prior to the event) courtesy of Limited Edish and specially themed pizzas on the menu at the adjoining Chalkboard Cafe.
Note there are three screenings on October 21 and 22, at 15:00, 17:30 and 20:00.

The Bioscope Outdoor Cinema special screenings
There are special outdoor screenings of Blade Runner on the rooftop of the Main Street Life building in Maboneng on Tue Oct 17 and 24 at 20:00. Tickets cost R120 and include bottomless popcorn. Advanced booking is recommended - tickets are selling fast!
