Easter treats in Joburg: Best chocolates and bakes (2026)

27 Mar 2026
We’ve rounded up a short-but-sweet list of Easter treats in Johannesburg – from limited-edition bakes to handcrafted chocolates and patisserie spoils. Salivating yet? Here's where to get your fix:

1. Sandton City's Chocolate Café

Chocolate, anyone? Your sweet tooth will thank you at Sandton City this Easter. Photo: Sandton City.

Chocolate, but make it an experience. From Thu, Mar 26 – Mon, Apr 6, 2026, Sandton City’s Chocolate Café: Sweet Edition takes over Centre Court with build-your-own chocolate bars, candy stations and plenty of big-name favourites. It's always a highlight this time of year. Entry is free – just bring your sweet tooth.

2. Jack Rabbit Chocolate Studio

Jack Rabbit Chocolate Studio is playful, indulgent and a little over the top (in the best way). Think hibiscus jelly eggs, bunny bars and giant chocolate eggs in flavours like salted caramel and biscuit crunch. Feeling fancy? Their filled Easter eggs – from apple crumble to hot cross bun – are a must. You’ll also find their artistic bonbons at 223 Creative Hub in Rosebank.

3. Pantry by Marble's egg-stra doughnut

One day only, one very good reason to show up. On Wed, Apr 1, 2026 from 13:00, Pantry by Marble serves a vanilla doughnut filled with speckled egg crème pâté, topped with Chantilly cream, ganache and a festive crunch. Limited, so don’t hang about.

4. Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream marshmallow eggs

These white chocolate-coated marshmallow eggs from Paul's Homemade Ice Cream are soft, saucy and just messy enough – with flavours like caramel and toasted marshmallow, rose and raspberry, and coffee and Nutella. Order online and thank us later.

5. Easter bakes and Patisserie pit stops

Heading to an Easter lunch? Pick up one of these beauties from La Tarte Pâtisserie as a gift. Photo: Supplied.

Whether you’re gifting or grazing, Joburg’s patisseries deliver. For a real piece of France, try PAUL at Melrose Arch, or order online from Belle’s Patisserie (don’t skip the Easter cake jars) and La Tarte Pâtisserie for something beautifully done and exceptionally delicious. Be sure not to miss the famous Italian Easter cake, the "Colomba", available at Fournos, and pop into Black Forest Bakery for the best hot cross buns and Easter breads.
