First Sundays at Victoria Yards
Sunday Dec 1 10:00–15:00
16 Viljoen St, Lorentzville
On the first Sunday of the month Victoria Yards' resident artists open their studio doors, presenting an opportunity to meet the artists and get a look behind the scenes at their creative process. The Victoria Yards complex is home to a number of prominent local artists including Blessing Ngobeni, Ayanda Mabulu, James Delaney and world-renowned photographer Roger Ballen, as well as contemporary art galleries like Daville Baillie Gallery, Afropolitan Gallery, and Art Afrique, artisan workshops such as the Smelt glass studio and Hélène Thomas' Yol Bijoux Nomades jewellery workshop and a number of fashion boutiques and design studios including Tshepo Mohala's Tshepo The Jean Maker and Oscar Ncube's Dry bone co.
As part of the monthly event you can also look forward to a farmer’s market filled with organic produce from Victoria Yards' lush gardens and from neighbouring urban farms such as the nearby Bertrams Inner City Farm and find great food and drinks at places like the famous Fish and Chip Shop, the Impi Craft Brewery, the Foakes Roastery (who make excellent sourdough bread) and catering company Food I Love You who open up their kitchen for a farm-style breakfast and harvest table lunch.
