Popular South African vocalists Timothy Moloi (who sang at the FIFA 2010 World Cup opening ceremony), Joseph Clark and Mariechan (best known for her appearance on the South African Popstars talent show) perform a musical tribute to the world's late, great musical icons, accompanied by the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra and South African talent platform Born to Perform's talented young vocalists Marianthe Panas, John Tsenoli, Zinah Rose, Yahto Kroft, Rachel Games, Siyolise Mkondweni and Tylo Venter.

The Gone Too Soon gala concert at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City promises to be a trip down memory lane with renditions of the biggest hits by stars including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury, Luther Vandross, George Michael, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Prince and Amy Winehouse, as well as South African icons like Brenda Fassie. An uplifting and joyful night that remembers the incredible contribution to music made by these legends, the concert mixes upbeat dancing-in-the-aisles hits with classically beautiful ballads.

While this concert isn't the first time that the three singers have paid tribute to the musical greats, it is the first time that they have all appeared on stage together. Among other blockbuster shows Timothy Moloi has also starred in Always & Forever: A Tribute to Luther Vandross, while Joseph Clark has previously sung in The Music of Queen and The Buddy Holly Story.

Gone Too Soon is being staged in loving memory of the late South African entertainment star Matthew Stewardson and racing driver Gugu Zulu, whose untimely deaths inspired the concept of the show.
