Goût de France - Good France

Thursday Mar 15 - Sunday Mar 25

Join a global celebration of French food at more than 150 restaurants worldwide. Goût de France/Good France recreates the idea inspired by Auguste Escoffier, who launched the “Dîners d’Épicure” (Epicurean Dinners) initiative in 1912 (the same menu, on the same day, in several world cities, for as many guests as possible).

In France the Goût de France event takes place on March 21, while in South Africa the celebration will be running from March 19-25. This year's Goût de France takes a regional focus for the first time with chefs cooking up dishes inspired by Nouvelle Aquitaine, a region known for its Bordeaux wines and gastronomic specialities like confit de canard, foie gras and pralines de Blaye.

Joburg restaurants participating in the 2018 Goût de France event include:
Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff.
The fine dining restaurant View will serve a special tribute to French cuisine in collaboration with Michelin star chef Vincent Lucas from France. The Goût de France Vincent Lucas pop up runs from March 15-21, bookings can be made online at fourseasonsevents.co.za

Les Delices de France
Florida North's popular French owned and run restaurant hosts a Good France dinner on March 24. Email LDDF@mweb.co.za or call +27 11 027 8668 to book.

SA Culinary Club
The 'cook and dine' pop up venue in Bryanston headed by top chef Wandile Mabaso (named Ambassador of French cuisine in South Africa by none other than French multiple Michelin star chef Alain Ducasse) hosts a series of special dinners, lunches and cooking courses throughout the month with a focus on contemporary French haute cuisine. Goût de France events can be booked online at saculinaryclub.com/dinner-classes
