The journeys of three contemporary African artists converge and diverge in Woven Sensibilities, a collaborative exhibition of the 2022 Absa L’Atelier Ambassadors.

Nigerian artist Taofeek Badru delves into the Adire Eleko cloth patterns, weaving in his personal narrative while challenging stereotypes. The transformative stories he shares through his work transcend cultural boundaries. South African artist Chelsea Selvan reflects on the fugitive nature of memory through abstract configurations, capturing the emotional resonance of architectural spaces that are etched in her mind. Ghanaian artist Gandor Collins investigates how bodies accumulate memory and data, probing the divide between humans and machines and blending the modern with the archaic.

Woven Sensibilities is showing until Thu, Jan 25 at the Absa Gallery at Piazza, Towers Main, 160 Main St, Johannesburg.
